This year’s congress of the European Society of Contraception and Reproductive Health will take place in Bilbao, Spain, from 1–4 May. The congress will be held under the motto “Sexual Rights and Contraception in a Turbulent World”.

ZEG Berlin will attend the meeting with several contributions. The following four abstracts will be presented:

• Real world use of antispasmodic drugs during IUD insertion – insights from the large observational study EURAS-LCS12 (Free Communication on Thursday, 2 May, from 14:00 to 15:30, Room 0D)
• Use of misoprostol during IUD insertion across European countries – results from a large observational, real-world study in Europe (EURAS-LCS12) (Poster)
• Insertion characteristics and complications associated with the use of different copper intrauterine device shapes in Europe – Results from the EURAS-LCS12 Study (Poster)
• Decreased Venous Thromboembolic Risk of Estradiol Valerate/Dienogest vs Ethinyl Estradiol/Levonorgestrel Combined Oral Contraceptives: Pooled Analysis in a Large Real-World User Population (Poster)

In addition, our Director of Project Management and Chief Operating Officer, Clare Barnett, will give two talks on the topics of:

• Heterogeneous Outcomes among Homogenous Study Designs (Session 1 on Thursday, 2 May, from 11:15 to 12:45, Room 0B: “Is there truth in epidemiology?”), and
• The Pros and Cons of Real-World Data (Post-Marketing Studies) (Session 2 on Friday, 3 May, from 14:00 to 15:30, Room 0E: “Challenges in contraception research and publishing”)

The pandemic may not yet be over but travelling and socializing are possible again. After a two-year break, ZEG Berlin will head to this year’s International Conference of Pharmacoepidemiology (ICPE), which is taking place in Copenhagen from August 24–28, 2022.

There, ZEG Berlin will report findings from a European Non-Interventional Study Investigating IUD Use and Safety in a Real-World Setting (EURAS-LCS12): three abstracts covering different insights from the LCS12 study will be presented in the poster hall over the 4-day conference, with one abstract being selected for a spotlight session. A great acknowledgement of the continuing relevance of our research!
